Culture - Get Ready & Mighty Bosstones - Impressions that I Get (Alto Saxophone Transcriptions)9/13/2015
Get Ready is a Culture song that mixes themes ranging from re-patriotization, salvation, and references to the Lion of Judah. Keep in mind: with "Impressions that I Get" notice only one F note at the beginning of the "Main Riff". No matter how close I listen I can not hear a saxophone hit a second F, but everyone else in the band is hitting (guitars, drums, bass, etc.), so it might be worth adding an extra F note to start the riff.

Here is a package of keyboard riffs that can be played on woodwind instruments..... but here's the rub. You need to translate (transpose) the transcriptions if you want your pitches to match the original recordings. And no - you don't have to play a Melodica to make these songs work!
For Bb Instruments it's usually an easy task:
Play the written part up a whole step. Usually that ends of being the next letter in the alphabet. For example, if the instructions list a C note, then you play a D. If the original note is flat (b) or sharp (#) then you're probably going to have to play a corresponding flat or sharp note as the end result. This isn't always the case, but it's a quick way to get started. For Eb Instruments: Play the written part down a step and a half. So if the instructions list a C note, then you play an A. It is not uncommon for the end result to be flat when the original note is normal (ex. Concert E = C#), so beware!
What does the Arab Spring, Heavy D, and the Grateful Dead have in common? Not much, but the theme for this mix is rebellion and reggae cover songs written by hippie bands:) I had to throw in a little bit of party music, just to lighten the load, but for some odd reason, the more serious tracks remind me of a rap outfit from the 1990's who mixed a Jew with an Arab to make some hardcore rhymes (click image above).
